The line-up for the night as of yet is as follows, with more acts to be announced soon:
Doldrums Presents -
Omar S
Source Direct
Kassem Mosse
Petchy w/ MC Topsee
Joy Orbison
The nights biggest act and the label's greatest asset is without doubt the man who needs no introduction to you all, Joy Orbison. The 22 year old wonderkid from Croydon, whose music is a brilliant amalgamation of dubstep, house and UK garage, has become one of the most in demand producers/DJ since his breakthrough track 'Hyph Mngo', which is viewed by many as one of the tracks of 2009 as well as being responsible from leading dubstep away from its obsession with 'wobble'. He hasn't released a mediocre record to date, and his unreleased tracks are in my opinion more exciting than the stuff we've already heard from him, so look out for him, and make sure you don't miss out on his set on the 19th. The other highlight of the night will be provided by Detroit techno/house artist Omar S (aka Alex Omar Smith). Over the past decade he has produced his own brand of soul-funk techno-house, and you can find all of his releases by clicking here. I've only recently got listening to this guys stuff, and from what I have heard I've been really impressed. His tracks are minimalist and progressive, whilst producing soulful and upbeat sounds through his beat construction and layering of synths. Make sure you listen to this guy's material, this is definitely an artist I'm really looking forward to seeing on the night.
Also announced to be playing on the night so far are the long-time drum and bass/jungle producing duo Source Direct (www.myspace.com/559sourcedirect06), Berlin's tech house producer Kassem Mosse (www.myspace.com/kassemmosse), as well as Live FM's Petchy (www.myspace.com/djpetchy) who will provide UK funky-house numbers on the night. There are more artists to be confirmed in the next few weeks leading up to the event as well, and I'll keep you posted on any news of these.
The line-up for me looks really promising, so if you're free on the 19th June I'd highly recommend you attend this event. You will be able to buy your tickets in a week or two from http://www.ticketweb.co.uk/user/?region=gb_london&query=detail&event=390532&interface=planb.
