Fred Perry have created a series of 9 tournament polo shirts in order to celebrate the 2010 World Cup, something which has been done by a few other brands over the past couple of months. These shirts have been released in limited numbers and are a real collectors item, so if you like your clothing I'd recommend you purchase quickly.
The series sees Fred Perry take their classic original style polo shirt and furnish it with tournament details. The line features t-shirts for nations Brazil, Germany, England, Spain, Netherlands, Italy, France, USA and Japan. The main canvas of the t-shirt features the main colour associated with the nation, with other minor colours in tipping detail on the collar and cuffs of the shirt. The shirt features the classic Fred Perry Laurel Wreath with the nation's name and the year 2010 embroidered underneath this. The shirts were also made in England for a change which is a bonus.
Although I like the classic Fred Perry design and limited collection, I'm a little disappointed by the designs and feel there is something missing from the shirt, maybe they could have gone further. I think it have been cool to feature the badge of the nation on the right side of the shirt, or maybe the name of a legendary player on the top of the back of the shirt, but these guys are the professionals to be fair. I still think this is a very cool line and one for the collectors out there, so if you fancy browsing/purchasing go online at http://www.fredperry.com/men/tournament-shirt/, or visit your nearest Fred Perry flagship store (12 Newburgh Street or 14 The Piazza, Covent Garden if you're in London).
